The Sign of the Return of Jesus
The book of Matthew chapter 24: verses 1 to 31 [KJV]): verse by verse:
1. And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to [him] for to show him the buildings of the temple. (Herod’s Temple)
The disciples were very proud of the temple, they saw it as a great land mark; they thought for sure Jesus would agree.
2. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Jesus is telling His disciples what is going to happen; a prophecy: This happened in 70AD: The temple was torn down by the Romans. (The Great Jewish Revolt: It ended in the destruction of Herod’s Temple.)
3. And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying; tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?
Here they are asking Him; “what will be the sign of your coming.” That is 2nd coming.
4. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Important men will try to deceive you, and many will be deceived!
5. for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Many will come; teaching about Jesus, so they are coming in His name. Warning even for us today! Just turn on your TV.
6. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Jesus is saying that we will have, see wars, and even here of wars, but do not be afraid!
7. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers’ places.
"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” (New American Standard)
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” [NIV]
The earth [we] shall see more earthquakes; and we have seen more and more earthquakes every year: There has been more incurable illnesses, or pestilences: =In divers places means=Places that have not many earthquakes, or never had such a thing, or very few, but will.
“Divers” is the Old English spelling for “diverse” = meaning many and varied places, or a lot of different places.
8. All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.
This is just the beginning of: We are seeing the beginning of sorrows:
9. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Some countries now will kill you for preaching Jesus; the laws will change; to where you can not offend a person with words.
(In England you cannot say “If you do not repent you will go to Hell” or “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life”: (John 14:6)
(In France you cannot lay hands on anyone to heal them as in; (Mark 16:18) you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover: You have to word it so it does not offend anyone. A lot of people hate what the bible says;
10. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
There will be an upraising of people offending each other; suing each other.
(Mark 13:12 [KJV])
12. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against [their] parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. Happening today now!
(Mark 13:13 [KJV])
13. And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Anyone who endures to the end shall be saved!
There is always hope. Only hope in those who believe on Jesus:
Back to: (Matthew 24:11 [KJV])
11. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Many Christians will be deceived and are being deceived today.
12. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Listen to the news!
13. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
14. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
(Revelation chapter 14:6 [KJV])
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, God will send angels to preach the gospel to all mankind.
15. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whosoever reads, let him understand :)
Mark 13:14; Luke 21:20; [Luke 21:22]
The false prophet The Anti-Christ they are empowered by Satan; He will set his throne up in the temple that the Jews will rebuild at some point, either just before the tribulation starts or right after it dose.
The Jews will make sacrifices thinking that it is Jesus they are making them too. Remember the Jews are waiting for the Messiah Jesus to come; where Christians are waiting for His 2nd return.
There will be a peace on the earth for the first 3 and half years; no wars; Then the Jews see that it is not the Messiah they are sacrificing to, but the Anti-Christ: He is kicked out of the temple and the last 3 and a half years are called The Great Tribulation. The last half is much; much; greater; worse; then the first half was!
(Daniel 9:27 [KJV])
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:(One week = 7 years) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,(3 and half; mid tribulation) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Matt 24:15; Mark 13:14; Luke 21:20; [Luke 1:70];
(9:27 overspreading of abominations.)
The “overspreading of abominations” can be paraphrased as the “ultimate in blasphemous idolatry.” “Abomination” is a word often used in Scripture for an idol, and “overspreading” refers to wings. Replacing the mercy-seat in the holy place in the temple will be the image of the Beast, and the wings shadowing his image will replace the out-stretched wings of the cherubim. Christ called this “the abomination of desolation” (Mark 13:14). In citing this event as still future, Christ acknowledged that Daniel was, indeed, a prophet.
(Matt 24:16 to 31 [KJV])
16. Then let them which are in Judaea flee into the mountains:
(Mid Tribulation is called the Great Tribulation;
The last 3 and half years will be worse then the first 3 and half: Run :)
17. Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:
18. Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19. Woe unto them that are with child and to them that gives suck in those days!
(It will be easier if you were not with child or nursing :)
20. But pray ye that your flight is not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:
21. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (Jesus will shorten those days for the Elect’s sake, because if He didn’t the world and everyone on it would parish.)
23. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here [is] Christ, or there; believe [it] not.
(Matt 24:24 [KJV])
24. for there shall arise false Christ’s, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Wow; the false Christ’s and false prophets will be doing great signs and wonders; deceiving all people who are not the elect.
[1John 4:1]; [2John 1:7];
(Revelation chapter 13: verses 11 to 14 [KJV])
11. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.
12. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13. And he doeth great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14. And deceives them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
(Matthew 24: verses 25 to 31 [KJV])
25. Behold, I have told you before.
26. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, [he is] in the secret chambers; believe [it] not. (Warning)
27. For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Jesus will come like lightning; very fast.)
28. For wheresoever’s the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
(Because of great amount of dead)
(Luke 21:28 [KJV])
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.
Back to; (Matthew 24: 29)
29. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
(As soon as the tribulation is over; immediately after; the sun and moon no light; Stars will fall; the very heavens will be shaken. Verse 30; then Jesus! The Sign!)
30. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
(Jesus returns; all the people still on earth will morn, because they all see Jesus coming in the clouds; people will not be able to die, no escape, this is the first judgemnet:
31. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Rapture; the church is taken off the earth.)
(1Thessalonians chapter 4:verses 13 to 18 [KJV])
13 .But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleeps in Jesus will God bring with him.
15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17. Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
(1 Corinthians chapter 15: verses 51 and 52 [KJV])
51. Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52. in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
